Short stories should make the reader think more then learn. They should learn from themselves thinking. Short stories should make our minds go bizzurk and make it try and connect the dots.

Short Story
Short stories are very difficult when you don't know what to write about. This is why we brainstorm and do an outline so that all of our ideas are jotted down on a piece of paper. I think that writing a short story is very easy if you know what you're writing about. Once the main points are written down you can go back and add detail to the story to make it more interesting. Like a wise man once told me, a short story is suppose to "smack you in the face and end". I think that my short story did that because it makes the reader think about what would have happened if the ending was explained.

Thanksgiving DOOMS day

Thanksgiving day might be a day of giving thanks for something someday in history. Pretty much who cares right? All it is to me is the worst day of my soon to be ended life.
It all starts about a week or two before Thanksgiving arrives. Hunters grab their guns and wait for us to fly up into the sky. Then at the correct second, we hear a loud bang and it's all over. I understand how the system works. We eat the fish, the fish eat the worms and the worms eat the dirt. It's the circle of life.
By now your probably like, "Okay Mufasa, what does this have to do with your story?"
Anyway, so after seeing fellow ducks get shot down I have noticed that it is not always the bullet which kills the duck. Sometimes it just clips a wing making it hard to fly. If the bullet doesn't kill you then the fall into that pond at 40 plus feet probably will. If the fall doesn't, which I have seen once in my life, those evil four legged things they call "dogs" will. They jump into the water and bite your neck so it's impossible to breathe and that is how we die and they get a Thanksgiving meal.
Once captured, our dead corpse is dumped into a small black bag and shipped to some kind of factory. There they pluck our nice feathers, one by one, and send us to the packaging place to get packaged for your nice Thanksgiving meal.
We sit at stores for hours on end waiting until one "LUCKY" customer strolls along and snatches us. Not caring for the well being of us, they just throw us into the cart and take us to the checkout counter.
At home you cook us and fry us and stuff us with some nasty stuffing. We just sit there on a fancy plate just starring at you as you pray. You pray for the food you are about to eat, which is me. All I have to say is you wouldn't have to pray for me if you didn't kill me.
Man, it's not cool to be a duck in November!!!

Big 12 Needs to Change Policies
The weekend of November 29 was a very interesting day in college football. We saw some trickery in the Colorado, Nebraska game which ended up back firing and causing a touchdown for Colorado. We also saw some amazing catches like in the Oklahoma game. Most of all we saw probably one of the most interesting and most controversial topics when it comes to college football... The Oklahoma Sooners overtook The Texas Longhorns in the BCS standings. If I were a Texas fan, which I'm not because I can't stand Colt McCoy and Texas, I mean who names their kid after a baby boy horse? I mean c'mon... But if I were a Texas fan I would be furious! How can a team which Texas beat in the regular season be ranked higher in the BCS standings. How can this be? Oh and on top of that they aren't even playing for their conference championship! I don't understand how a three loss team like Missouri can be playing in the Big 12 championship with three losses.
The facts are that the Big 12 South is so much more competative then the Big 12 North. I mean who is in the Big 12 North? Four teams which are 500 or less in the conference. The Big 12 South has four teams ranked in the top 15. The Big 12 needs not to have a conference championship between the North and the South but between the two best teams. That is the only way to make it fair. All I have to say to all y
ou Texas fans is... "It would stink to be a Longhorn now."

Working Stinks... Literally
Yesterday Big Poppy, (AKA my dad), made me work! I hate to work! He was like, "Okay Tripper, you need to clean out my car, your car, the garage and mow the lawn". I was not happy with this demand. So I decided to take the high road and do the work. First I cleaned out his car. Yes I said "HIS" car. Why do I have to clean out HIS car when it's not MY car. I took everything out of the car and I swept it. Then I did the same to my car and I mowed the lawn.
While I was mowing the lawn, I stepped on a load of crap that my dog had left for me. It's like my dog placed it like a perfectly laid mine. I stepped in it and I didn't even know it until I started cleaning out the garage. I smelt something nasty. Oh yeah it was my shoe which was covered in poo. Not very cool. Then I had to clean off my shoe it was horrible.

Know Your School Colors

As I walk through the hallways I see Northview's school colors, black and gold. Many students are very proud of the school which they attend. Others not so much! I often see students wearing other schools' colors and gear. Now I'm not saying that since you go to Northview you can't wear orange because orange is Southview's colors. I'm saying that if Northview has a game of anykind, don't wear orange or anyother vibrant color.
I also see, mostly in girls, St. Johns and St. Francis sweatshirts and pants. Why do girls always want to borrow guys' clothing? Most of the guys' clothing is of SJJ and SFS kind. All I have to say is why? Oh, guys, don't think that you don't do the same. I see St. Ursula and Notre Dame clothing also. Unless YOU go or went to the school then don't wear other schools' clothes.
You might say, "It's not about the colors or what is written on the clothing. It's about being comfortable". My response would say something like would you wear something dorogatory on your shirt. Well that's pretty much what you are doing. You're dissing your own school. Be proud of the school which you attend. Even if they might not be great at every sport or activity take pride!

Math
Of all the subjects in school why is math the hardest? I know that I'm going to need it some time in my life but can't we learn about when we have picked our occupation? For example, unless you're going to be a math teacher or a professor of some sort is there any reason we need to learn about some of the things taught in high school math classes?
When will I ever use imaginary numbers to solve anything? They are not real!! They are just state of the unknown. You can't see them so why do we continue to learn about them? The only thing I'd use an imaginary number for in real life is to multiply it by my imaginary friend to make him real? Isn't that the concept behind imaginary numbers?
How about graphs that have a million lines going everywhere. Why do teachers make us identify these spiderwebs when in real life I probably won't ever see it.
My mom is decently smart. She knows how to do taxes and basic math. Whenever I asked her for help in elementary school she was right there to help me. Once I got into the higher math like 6th grade and 7th grade she didn't know how to do any of it. This might be a dumb question but how does a 7th grader do harder problems then a mother of 13 years? I don't get it. Did she learn the same math we learn now in high school and just forget it over the years? Or was she ever taught it?
The human brain can only store so much information. That is why we are constantly obtaining new knowledge and strengthening our brains to learn more. I believe that the human brain only remembers what it needs to remember. Most things, like math equations and problems or silly things we learn in high school are just deleted from the data base we call brain.
Now I'm not saying that it is a good to not do your math homework and to fail all your tests because you don't think you will use some of the math you learn in high school. I think that the big math Gods behind the math books should be reasonable with what they put into the books.
Now this isn't a hard equation: Math God + Easier Problems = Happy Me!

Motto to live by

There is no victory without sacrifice.
I think that this motto is a good motto to live by because all it is saying is that you have to work hard and try your hardest to become victorious. This is true in everything I do. At basketball practice this year our team runs an extra "suicide" which is a full out sprint from the baseline to the foul line back to the baseline, then to half court and back, 3/4 court and back then full and back. We run theses suicides to become a more conditioned team. So when the 4th quarter comes around, we are able to keep playing hard. There is no victory without sacrifice.
